On July 19, 2014, Leigh Gardner and Rachel Duquette were married at Zin Estate in Temecula Wine Country with the love and support of their family and friends cheering them on!
Some weddings just have that extra bit of happiness and absence of stress and/or drama, and this was definitely one of those weddings.
Photographing weddings can be hard at times, but days like this [...]
On Saturday October 12, 2013, it was time for a Falkner Winery Wedding in Temecula, CA for Britney Meadows and James Thom. On this day, my lovely and talented photographer friend, Lauren Jaye, was in town and I commandeered her as my Second Shooter for this event. Lauren is a blast. Britney and James are a blast. Britney’s mother is a blast! So… the whole [...]
On September 28th, we were back in beautiful Temecula Wine Country to photograph the Wilson Creek Winery Wedding of Nicole Cannizzaro and Nathan Ring. I love photographing weddings at Wilson Creek Winery. The staff there are always on top of things, and the venue is filled with photogenic locations.
And, although I have photographed many weddings and engagement portrait sessions at Wilson Creek, this [...]

Here are some highlights from Priscilla’s sizzling [...]
On Thursday, September 5th, we were in Temecula Wine Country for the Longshadow Ranch Winery wedding of Jenifer Martin and Brett Klaus. Jenifer is no stranger to my cameras as she has hired us to photograph boudoir portraits for her not just once, but twice before (see HERE and HERE). So, needless to say, when it came time for her to select her [...]
WEDDING ALBUMS. We sell wedding albums. In fact, our business is selling wedding albums, not wedding photography. Wedding albums are our end product, and wedding photography is what we shoot in order to create that.
After all the time, creativity, money and heart(ache) that you’re no doubt investing in your wedding, the wedding album is where it all comes together to chronicle the story of your [...]
On July 20th, my talented second shooter, Chloe Atnip, and I were way out deep in the DeLuz hills of Fallbrook for the wedding of Brittney Porter and Eric LaBlanc at the Enchanted Forest.
This was the first time that I have photographed an event at The Enchanted Forest wedding venue, and I certainly hope it is not the last. This place is not only [...]
It always makes a small business owner feel good when their clients like them enough to refer them to family and friends! It’s the sign that you’re doing something right.
If you follow our blog, you may recall that I had photographed the wedding of Cherina Hardiman and Joe Emery back in October, 2010 (check out their beautiful images here). Joe, Cherina, and I have [...]
Saturday, July 6th, we were down by the waters of the San Diego Bay to photograph the beautiful Bali Hai Wedding of Christine Mack and Richard Virgo. The weather on the bay was perfect for a wedding on this day. Sunny, but with just enough clouds to break up the sky and a cool breeze coming off the water. Nice!
Christine and her girls got [...]
On a scorching hot June 29th, we were in Temecula for another Wiens Family Cellars Wedding — this time to document the wedding day of Rachel and Joshua Johnson. (Frequent visitors to this blog may remember Rachel and Joshua from their Engagement Portrait session HERE.)
Joshua’s last name is Johnson, and Rachel’s maiden name is Johnson … Rachel sure lucked out! She saved A LOT of [...]
On May 18th, we were just around the corner from our Murrieta home for the beautiful Bella Gardens Estates Wedding of Krystal Munoz and Travis McGee.
This was the first time I had photographed at Bella Gardens Estates. In fact, before Krystal and Travis had booked me to photograph their wedding, I had never even heard of it — and it’s literally five [...]
On May 4th, we were at The Crossings in Carlsbad to document the wedding of Shirley Yacubowicz and Justin Flores. Talk about a relaxed and happy couple! They both were laughing and enjoying the day to the fullest. Justin and his guys were especially playful (and it shows in the highlights below). Clearly wrestling is a big part of Justin’s life!
The Crossings [...]
On Sunday, June 2nd, we met up with Rachel and Joshua and their two cute little dogs at a local Murrieta park for their engagement portrait session. They came prepared with some wine to sip and the dogs were beside themselves with excitement at getting to scamper around in the woodsy area.
Funny thing about dogs… when you want them to sit still [...]
On April 20th, we were back at one of my most frequent (and favorite) wedding venues — Wiens Family Cellars, in Temecula — for the wedding of Jennifer Miller and Alex Ryan.
In order to have more time to spend with their friends and families between the ceremony and reception, Jennifer and Alex elected to do a “First Look”. I hid her out of sight [...]
On April 12th, we were at Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula to document the wedding of Jennifer Trevino and Anthony Perez. We last saw Jennifer and Anthony here almost a year ago to photograph their Engagement Portrait session. That time, the weather was hot and blazing sun. This time, the weather was quite a bit nicer for their wedding day — scattered clouds and [...]
On April 13th, we were at the Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta to document the wedding of Gabrielle Perea and Mark Cowett.
We had just photographed their Engagement Portrait Session six weeks earlier, where they first demonstrated their fondness for retro/vintage looks as well as their playful sense of humor. It was no different on the wedding day as there were lots of [...]
On April 5th, I was back in Fallbrook with my second-shooter/assistant, Shillawna, to photograph the beautiful Pala Mesa Resort wedding of Meagan Smith and Steven Young.
Like us, Maegan and Steven are dog lovers. So much so, that their dog was their Ring Bearer for the ceremony! And he did a great job, running up the aisle on cue (the cue was Steven [...]
Two of my personal favorite local hot spots for photographing engagement portrait sessions are this woodsy park in Murrieta and in Old Town Temecula. When we were discussing location ideas with Britney Meadows and James Thom, they loved both locations. And, why chose when we can do both!
So, on April 6th we met up with them at the park for the first half of [...]
“Deanne” could not wait for Valentine’s Day to give her fiancé his special and sexy gift — a book we designed for her filled with Boudoir Portraits of her that we shot especially for him. She couldn’t wait because his birthday was a couple weeks before Valentine’s Day. So, since the surprise will not be spoiled now, here are just a few of [...]
Some folks prefer to have the biggest wedding they can, while others prefer to keep things as private and intimate as possible. The latter was the case for the wedding of Juanita Smith and Joe LaMuth as they said “I do!” at South Coast Winery in Temecula on November 17th.
A Best Man. A Maid of Honor. An officiant. And four other [...]
Every business owner loves repeat customers and referrals. It is a sign that people love your work. So, I was very happy when Tracy-Lyn Forney wanted to have the same wedding photographer as her brother, Chris, last year — ME! Tracy-Lyn and her fiancé, Jeremy Habig, were married in an intimate and beautiful tropical garden atmosphere at the Hotel Maya in Long Beach on Sunday, [...]
On Friday, October 12, 2012, my trusty second shooter, Annie, and I were at Lake Oak Meadows in Temecula to photograph the wedding of Kara Hanson and Dean Fox. When we last saw Kara and Dean, it was for their Engagement Portrait session at Glen Arbor Park in Murrieta back in April. I could tell back then that this couple was a very relaxed type. [...]
Some weddings are traditional and some are not. The wedding of Ellaine Loreto and Evan Goss that I photographed in Orange County on September 1st, was a mix of the two, with the traditional Catholic ceremony held at the St. Joachim Catholic Church in Costa Mesa and the not so traditional reception held at the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin.
Not only does [...]
On July 7th, while photographing the engagement portrait session for Katherine (Kat) Schnaider and James Matti at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA, we made a spur of the moment decision to also shoot some video to make an engagement video for them.
But, since their original photography permit (required at most places like this) was for still photography only, we had to jump [...]
On July 8th, I was back at Los Willows in Fallbrook for the second time in two months to photograph the wedding of Vi Ly and Steven Aranda. It was way back on October 16th of last year that I photographed Vi and Steven’s Engagement Portrait session at Laguna Beach behind the Montage Resort and Spa. Vi likes to plan ahead!
Los Willows has quickly [...]
On Saturday, June 30th, I was back Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula Wine Country to photograph the wedding of Jill Kovalcin and John Petrizzi. When I photographed them previously on March 31st at Laguna Beach for their Engagement Portraits, I immediately got a sense of John’s natural sense of humor and of Jill’s appreciation for it, as well as their natural chemistry together. I [...]
On Friday, June 8, 2012, my second shooter, Annie, and I were back at the beautiful Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook to document the wedding of Jennifer Dominguez and Sergio Gutierrez in photographs!
I have photographed at Pala Mesa Resort many times in the past and it is always a treat. The venue is very photogenic and, combined with such a photogenic couple as Jennifer and [...]
On Sunday, June 3, 2012, my second shoot Annie and I photographed the wedding of Jennifer Cordts and Daniel Hahn at Green Gables, a quaint little historic school house, in San Marcos, CA.
I promise that this bride and groom are NOT hired models and this entire event was not staged just to make me look good!
Actually, Jennifer had been a guest at [...]
On Saturday May 19th, my second shooter Annie and I were at the beautiful Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego to photograph the wedding of Michelle and Ted Kochanek. The tropical landscaping at the resort makes it easy to imagine that you’re in Hawaii rather than San Diego.
So, I sometimes tend to toss out random “awards” to my brides and grooms — “Most [...]
On Saturday, April 28th, I was back at Wiens Family Cellars with my second shooter, Annie, for Sarah Williams and Jeff Arbuckle’s wedding celebration! Sarah definitely wins the award for Most Happy Bride as she was laughing out loud most of the day. Her laughter is contagious and she had everyone around her smiling as well.
Here are some highlights from Sara and Jeff’s big [...]
On Friday, April 27th, we were at St. Catherine’s of Alexandria church in Temecula and then Wedgewood Banquet and Wedding Trilogy Golf Club in Corona to document the wedding ceremony and reception of Ximena Jimenez and David Navarrete.
Ximena and her bridesmaids were smiling and laughing the whole day, and David and his guys were in an equally happy and relaxed mood. It made for a [...]
Friday the 13th is supposed to bring bad luck. Yet, I have heard it said that rain on your wedding is supposed to be good luck. Try explaining that to a bride when she’s trying to put on her makeup and the storm has just cut the power to the building. A lesser woman may have let that get her in a funk, but Kerri [...]
On Sunday, March 31st, we were in Laguna Beach at one of my favorite spots just behind the Montage Resort, to photograph engagement portraits for Jill Kovalcin and John Petrizzi. Their wedding will be held June 30th of this year at Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula.
As with many of my wedding clients, Jill and John told me that they are not particularly fond of [...]
On Saturday, March 24th, I drove all the way to Malibu to a beautiful hillside estate to photograph the wedding of Marie Shanks and Michael McCreary. Marie and Michael live in Hawaii. So, the first time I actually met them was when I arrived on the property for the wedding. But, being from Hawaii, they were typically laid back and extremely easy-going the whole day [...]
On Sunday, March 4th, I was a guest on “RKR’s Talk of the Town” radio show on 101.3 KATY-FM in Temecula. I discussed some tips for selecting a wedding photographer, my own photography background, some recent changes in wedding traditions, and some interesting stories from weddings past.
Many thanks to Judy Zulfiqar of RKR Marketing for having me as a guest on the show.
On Saturday February 4th, 2012 we were at the Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center in Fallbrook to document the wedding of Jill Liggett and Aaron Maurice. Although many of our recent couples have elected to do a “First Look”, they did not want to see each other prior to the ceremony. Yet, they did want to exchange personal handwritten messages to each other, which they [...]
Chelsea Thompson and Joe Pambianco are both outdoorsy type of people. They love to hike, and run, and ride bikes together. So, when I suggested nearby Santa Rosa Plateau as the location for their engagement portraits, they loved the idea. Rachel and I met them at the Visitor’s Center on the plateau and hiked around one of my favorite trail loops to capture them enjoying [...]
Any time of year is a good time of year to get married in Southern California. And, although the vines were bare, Saturday, January 14th was a very good day to get married at Wiens Family Cellars! The weather was calm and the temperature was perfect as Greer Wayland and Scott Sheldon said, “I Do” just before sunset.
The day started with photos in the vines. [...]
2011 was a great year for Loren Scott Photography! We were busier than ever and had the pleasure of photographing weddings and engagement sessions for a bunch of really awesome couples. Rachel and I have selected some of our own personal favorites from 2011, and we also asked our happy couples to pick out some of their own as well.
So, here they are, from the [...]
On Sunday, December 11th, I photographed a beautiful engagement session with Jennifer Dominguez and Sergio Gutierrez at Glen Arbor Park (aka The Dog Park) in Murrieta. Despite the chill factor, it turned out to be a pretty good day for an engagement shoot. The weather was cooperating (as we’d just had heavy rains the week before), the early afternoon lighting was perfect, and the park [...]
On Saturday, December 3rd, I was close to home at the World Harvest Church to photograph our final wedding of the year, the beautiful winter Murrieta wedding of Chantale Stamp and Anthony Ley! I had photographed Anthony’s High School senior portraits a couple of years ago. So, when it was time to plan his wedding, his mother contacted us right away. (Thank you, Elizabeth!) [...]
Last month we photographed a really awesome “Trash The Dress” session in Laguna with one of our July brides, Monique Smith. Awesome weather, access to a private beach, Monique’s carefree spirit, and Monique’s romantic husband, Randy, all converged together for a perfect storm of picture taking!
We also like to refer to this session as “UnBridaled”, since “Trash The Dress” may scare some brides who [...]
On Friday, October 28, 2011, we were at the Bali Hai Restaurant in San Diego photographing the wedding of Kasey Middlestead and Trevor Schultz. Kasey and Trevor had a perfect bayside ceremony complete with gorgeous weather and a sparkling water view! And following the ceremony was a fun daytime reception on the Bali Hai patio, complete with fun and funky cake centerpieces!
As with their engagement [...]
On October 16th, I was at my most popular beach location for photographing engagement portraits — Laguna Beach, just behind the Montage Resort. On this occasion, the happy engaged couple in front of my lens was Vi Ly and her fiance, Steven Aranda.
Vi and Steven are doing a great job of planning ahead, as their wedding is not until next July 8th (at [...]
As I mentioned in the previous blog post, this winter is unusually busy with weddings for us, and Jill Liggett and Aaron Maurice are another of our happy winter wedding couples, with their wedding coming up next February 4th at the Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center in Fallbrook.
During their initial consultation with us, Aaron was telling me that he maintains the private wine cellar for [...]
Usually, the main “wedding season” runs from March through October. However, this year has been our busiest ever with weddings scheduled in November, December, and next January and February as well! Greer Wayland and Scott Sheldon are one of our happy winter couples and will be getting married at Wiens Family Cellars this coming January 14th.
So, on October 9th, we met up with Greer [...]
Seven years ago, April and Ken Gaudette said “I do”. And they hired a fairly well-known and respected wedding photographer to document their day. Unfortunately, as is sometimes the case with even the best in the business, for various reasons, their photographer (who will remain unnamed here) just did not have sufficient time to capture enough of the romantic portraits that April and Ken [...]
On Friday, September 30th, Jennifer Williams and Shawn Percival had a beautiful wine country wedding at Wiens Family Cellars.
And, although my natural style of photography is primarily photojournalistic and candid, when my client wants to ‘model it up’ a bit, who am I to say no? Jennifer had sent us a list of some specific shots she was hoping to capture on the day [...]
People often ask me if I ever get tired of photographing weddings. Or they ask if it ever gets old seeing the same old things over and over. On the contrary, one of the reasons I stopped doing general portraiture at the beginning of this year to focus on weddings was the fact that each one is unique and special. Yet, I have to admit [...]
It has been a few weeks since our last blog update, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. Quite the opposite, in fact. In the past two weeks, I’ve photographed two other weddings (after the one in this post) and spent nearly every free moment packing and unpacking as we moved into our brand spanking new house! Now that we have a moment to [...]
We have a lot of out of state couples who come from all over the U.S. to marry in our beautiful Temecula Wine Country. Kathryne Starmer and Conrad Vaughan came a little further — across the Atlantic to be exact — from their home in the United Kingdom. AND they brought all of their closest friends and family members to celebrate with them on Thursday, [...]
The day was Saturday, August 20th. It was a Wildomar wedding. And Charlinn McCuiston was a nervous bride. Prior to the ceremony, she was acting as many young brides do just prior to marrying the man of their dreams. She was checking every detail and checking it again. The cutest thing is that, a few times, she actually apologized to me [...]
On Thursday, July 21st, we were at the home of Alex Ashforth and Chris Forney in Escondido to photograph their engagement portraits. It is not often that I photograph engagement portraits at a couple’s home. However, in this case, I’ll be back there on September 24th to photograph their wedding.
Weddings held at private residences are becoming more and more popular. [...]
On Saturday, July 30th we were at Glen Arbor Park in Murrieta to photograph the engagement portraits for Mary-Alice Welshon and Clint Navrkal. I will be photographing their wedding on September 3rd in the Murrieta community of La Cresta.
Mary-Alice and Clint were one of those couples that started out initially wary of the camera. But, as usual, after the first series of shots (in [...]
On July 23, 2011, I was back in beautiful Temecula Wine Country to photograph the wedding of Megan Ashton and John Proctor at Keyways Vineyard and Winery. One of the first things I noticed upon my arrival were the unique flower arrangements and eye catching bouquets. In a word: GREEN. Megan (maybe because she’s a Texas resident?) had chosen succulents for her floral theme. Organic [...]
Monique and Randy are true lovebirds. One year ago, these childhood sweethearts married in a simple courthouse ceremony. To celebrate their first anniversary on July 9th of this year, they decided to have the wedding they never had. And they did it in style — aboard the yacht Spirit of Newport. Their closest family and friends were all onboard for the cruise around Newport [...]
I truly love my job. I mean, it is almost cliché these days to hear a photographer swooning on their blog (or the About page on their site) about what “passion” they have for photography, or how they love what they do. However, at the risk of sounding cliché, I will say it again — I do truly love my job. At the beginning [...]
On Sunday, June 26th, we were at one of our favorite locations to capture beautiful “woodsy” engagement portraits — Glen Arbor Park in Murrieta (also known to locals as the “Dog Park”). Today’s portrait session was for Charlinn McCuiston and Chris Watkins.
As is the case with many people, Charlinn and Chris consider themselves somewhat camera-shy. And, as usual, within 10 minutes of starting their [...]
If you’re a regular follower of this blog, you’ll remember Courtney and James from their fun engagement portrait session (HERE) where they did a split session — half at the park with their dogs and half in Old Town Temecula. We made a cute engagement session video for them then too. They were so much fun during the engagement portrait session, that I truly could [...]
On Sunday, June 19th, we were back in what has now officially become my favorite location to photograph engagement portraits — Old Town Temecula. On this day, I was photographing Jennifer Williams and Shawn Percival, whose wedding I will be photographing on Friday, September 30th at Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula — which also happens to be one of my favorite weddings venues.
Jennifer and [...]
Saturday, May 21st, we were in Fullerton at the Coyote Hills Golf Course to photograph the wedding of Cassandra New and Robert Johnson. It was an emotional day all around with Cassandra tearing up a bit just after getting in her wedding dress; Robert getting a bit watery-eyed as he first caught sight of Cassandra coming down the aisle; Cassandra wiping her eyes during the [...]
On May 14th, we were back at Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula Wine Country to photograph the wedding of Kelly Keprios and Tim Jiannino. Wiens Family Cellars is one of my most frequent — and favorite — venues to photograph weddings!
Both Kelly and Tim were in great moods all day. Kelly even trusted me when I suggested that I’d like to take her dress [...]
I had such a fun time photographing childhood sweethearts Monique and Randy Smith for their engagement portrait session in Old Town Temecula. Technically, they’re already married, but they never had the ceremony they wanted when they married at the courthouse almost a year ago.
So, this July 9th — on what is really their 1st anniversary — they will be having a wedding ceremony [...]
On Saturday, May 1st, we were at Etiwanda Gardens near Rancho Cucamonga for the wedding of Kimberly White and Tony Checcia. I had a blast watching them have a blast all day! My second shooter, Erin, and I capture some really great moments with Kimberly and Tony and their families and friends on this day.
This was the first time I had ever photographed an [...]
Here are some highlights from Cassandra and Robert’s engagement portrait session at Crystal Cove. I’ll be photographing their wedding on May 21st at Coyote Hills Golf Club in Fullerton. Stay tuned!
Courtney Campora and James Carter love their dogs. We love dogs too! So, when they gingerly asked about including their dogs in their engagement portrait session, we quickly said, “No problem!” We set up a split engagement portrait session for them on March 27th. The first half was in the morning at Glen Arbor Park in Murrieta. We’ve photographed there many times [...]
On Sunday, February 5th, I was at the Mission San Juan Capistrano to photograph an engagement portrait session for Kimberly White and Tony Checchia. I’ll be photographing their wedding on May 1st, 2011 at Etiwanda Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I have photographed at the mission a couple times before, so I already had some specific spots in mind that I was looking [...]
On Saturday, December 11, 2010 we were at the Murrieta home of Miss Jen to photograph her in adorable pin-up inspired poses. Jen was so much fun to work with, and never hesitated to strike a pose. We took a variety of shots within her kitchen, family room, garage, bedroom, and even the bathtub!
All photography was shot by Loren with Rachel assisting. Here’s a small [...]
‘Tis the season for delivery of custom products! On Friday, December 17th, Kelly and Dustin Howard stopped by to pick up their wedding album. Kelly and Dustin were married earlier this year on July 10, 2010 at nearby Monteleone Meadows in Murrieta.
Kelly and Dustin’s album is a 12×12 heirloom wedding album with round spine, black leather and a cameo image.
I own both the Canon 5D Mark II and 7D. I’ve used the 5D Mark II for some small video projects in the past (mostly video’s of my son’s drumming), but when my friend (Pat Collins, drummer for the band Eclipse) hired me to do a full-scale band promo video for them, how could I refuse?
I elected to use my 7D for this band [...]
On Saturday, December 11th, Rachel and I were in Old Town Temecula for a fun family portrait session with William McNeal, his son Cruz, William’s girlfriend Angelica, and William’s sister Amber. William had contacted us for portraits in anticipation of two upcoming family milestones: William’s 40th birthday, and Cruz’s 2nd birthday. When discussing ideas for locations, William wanted a place where we could take advantage [...]
On Saturday, November 27th, I documented our final wedding of 2010, the wedding of Erin Eubanks and Richard Nordeen!
Erin and Rick were married in a very classic church ceremony at Christ The King Lutheran Church in nearby Fallbrook. Classic touches included a bouquet of creamy white roses, a strand of pretty pearls around Erin’s neck, and a line of old fashioned Rolls Royce cars [...]
On April 4th of this year, we photographed the wedding of Crystal and Michael Whitaker. Last night, Michael stopped by to pick up the custom-designed flush mount wedding album that Rachel designed for them.
The photographs we shot at their wedding at Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook were so colorful and vibrant that they just “popped” off the pages, due in part to the metallic [...]
On Sunday, October 24th, I was back at one of my favorite wedding venues, Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook, to photograph the wedding of Dana Wilson and Lt. Col. Rob “Waldo” Waldman. Rob is a professional leadership speaker and author of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller Never Fly Solo. As a former combat fighter pilot, Rob’s book and lectures have a [...]
On Saturday, October 23rd, we were at Thornton Winery in Temecula for the wedding of Aimee Jones and Jeff Gutman. Aimee was truly one of the most relaxed brides I have ever met and her dry wit was always there all throughout the day.
Theirs was a traditional Jewish wedding. And, as is the Jewish tradition, Saturday weddings cannot begin until after sunset. Their rabbi informed [...]
Although Saturdays are still the overwhelming winner as most popular day of the week to get married, we have seen more and more non-Saturday weddings in the past year. (In fact, our own wedding was held on a Friday — last December 4th!) Another trend that continued this year for us, is that October was our busiest month for wedding bookings. We photographed six [...]
I had previously posted a blog entry with photos and info on the engagement portrait session that I shot for Joe Emery and Cherina Hardiman on August 29th (HERE). Well… during that session, on the spur of the moment, we decided to also film some video snippets and see what we’d get.
I didn’t have my good off-camera mic with me, so I ended up just [...]
On Sunday, October 10th (10/10/10), we were in Santa Monica, CA at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel to photograph the wedding of Yoko Tsuchihashi and Sammy Shakerchi. Their wedding had a unique blend of Yoko and Sam’s respective Japanese and Jewish traditions, combining a Japanese Sake ceremony with certain Jewish traditions such as signing the ketubah and the breaking of the glass.
This was a beautiful location [...]
On Saturday, October 2nd we started our day at the awe-inspiring Mission Inn in Riverside, where Renee Schiavone and her bridesmaids were getting ready for her wedding to Edward Fernandez.
Renee is a producer for CBS television. And, this wedding was extra special because Renee and her girls all had their hair and makeup done for them for an episode of a new TLC television show [...]
On Monday, September 6th, we were in Laguna Beach at the beautiful Pacific Edge Villa for the wedding of Natasha and Steve (last names withheld by request).
The villa had just been completely remodeled and looked amazing! And, by “villa”, I mean, this was really a gorgeous three-story house right there on the beach. The ceremony and reception dinner were held on the beach-facing deck and [...]
On October 2, 2010 we hand-delivered a custom-designed wedding album to Felecia and Michael Pendleton. If you follow our blog, you may recall that Felecia and Michael were married earlier this year on June 5, 2010 at Gershon Bachus Vintners in Temecula, California. It was a gorgeous wedding, and the pictures were beautiful! So, it’s no surprise that this album is so striking! This 12×12 [...]
On Tuesday, August 24th we had the pleasure of photographing 7-day old Vincent with his mom and dad (and dog!) at their home in Murrieta. We started out with the dramatic black and white portraits, and then settled in to the soft, sleepy portraits of Vincent in his cute little knitted cap.
As you’ll see in one of the final shots, Little Vincent was unexpectedly strong, lifting his [...]
On Sunday, September 5th, we were just up the road a bit for the Canyon Lake wedding of Lindsay Akers and Stan Azevedo. Stan is an avid (and talented) photographer himself. So, when he hired me to photograph his wedding, I was honored. And, since Stan is also a prominent jeweler in the Temecula Valley (La Masters of Fine Jewelry), it’s no surprise that Lindsay [...]
On Sunday, August 29th we had the pleasure of photographing engagement portraits for Cherina Hardiman and Joe Emery in the Chinatown area of Los Angeles.
Joe and Cherina are such a fun and lively couple. They are truly a perfect match, as evidenced by their many years of coupledom! We can’t wait for the wedding on October 31st (Halloween)!
To many people, including Rachel and myself, their dog is like a member of their family. On Saturday, August 28, 2010 we photographed this beautiful dog, Lucy, at Glen Arbor Park (better known as the “Dog Park” to the locals of Murrieta).
Earlier that morning, we’d received a call from Lucy’s mom who was having a hard time locating a photographer who could photograph and produce [...]
Certain dates are very popular for weddings. For example, I have photographed weddings on 07/07/07 and 08/08/08. On Monday, August 16th we were in Beverly Hills to photograph my 10/10/10 wedding couple, Yoko Tsuchihashi and Sammy Shakerchi, for their engagement portraits. They were both so photogenic and affectionate with each other that it was easy to catch natural smiles on their faces and love in [...]
Lisa Wunderlich has been a longtime friend of mine and, as a fellow actor, we have even performed together in a couple local stage productions (“Lend Me A Tenor” and “Rumors”) as well as a short film for a book trailer (“When Universities Are Destroyed“).
Lisa’s second anniversary has just passed, and so now that the surprise won’t be spoiled, I can reveal a few of [...]
On Monday, August 9th, we met up with high school Senior, Jenna Dunn, and her family at the Glen Arbor Park in Murrieta to photograph Jenna’s Senior Portraits. After about 45 minutes of shooting in the wooded area of the park, we headed to Laguna Beach for about another hour of shooting there — with Jenna’s friend, mother, and grandmother in tow.
We all had [...]
On Friday, August 20th, I received a call from Dean Stoecker. He had a plan. On the following night, Dean and his girlfriend Angie were going to attend the Bobby Caldwell jazz concert at Thornton Winery in Temecula, and Dean was going to pop the question there, and he wanted me to document it in photographs.
Dean had already coordinated the scheme with Bobby [...]
On Saturday, August 7th, we were down in San Diego for the wedding of Chelcey Cervantes and James Barraza. The bridal party got ready at the W Hotel, just a short half mile from the Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic church where the ceremony was to be held.
Unfortunately, a mix-up with their limo company left them without a ride to the church. So, [...]
Beatles fans should appreciate the authenticity of the uniforms and the sounds of tribute band The Silver Beatles. On August 3rd, the band hired me to shoot their updated band promo shots.
This was a very quick shoot — perhaps 30 minutes or so, including setting up my studio lights in one of the stage rooms at the Murrieta Academy of Music. These guys [...]
Last year, on August 21st, I photographed the wedding of Chermine Williams and Eric Smith. I had also previously shot a boudoir portrait session for Chermine as a gift for Eric. Chermine loves the camera (and, fortunately, my use of it) so much that she returned for her maternity portrait session on July 25th.
Chermine didn’t have any specific shots in mind that she wanted. Instead, [...]
I will begin this blog entry with a story that I have heard told with many different subtle variations, but the point is always the same. So, here it is:
One day, the famous artist Pablo Picasso was sitting at a table outside a Paris cafe. A woman recognized him and asked if he would draw something for her on a napkin. He complied, doodling [...]
On Saturday, July 10th, we traveled a whole 10 minutes from our Murrieta home/studio all the way over to the beautiful Monteleone Meadows to document the wedding of Kelly Kowaleski and Dustin Howard.
We are family friends with Dustin’s parents, and our usual policy is that we do not shoot weddings for friends or family. The reason for this is simple. If, by chance, something should [...]
Quite often, I shoot engagement portrait sessions for my wedding clients at Laguna Beach. And, sometimes, the couples like to get a little bit wet and walk barefoot through the very edge of the surf for some shots. And then there are Natasha and Steve who really wanted to get wet — and did.
They had a blast, and so did I. Their wedding [...]
On June 6th, I was back at one of my favorite not-so-secret portrait spots in Old Town Murrieta to shoot family portraits for the Johnson family — Duane, Tricia, and their one year-old son Kaleb.
Although Duane and Tricia were in the mood for some happy/smiling family photos, poor little Kaleb was dealing with a slight ear infection and, although he was never fussy at all, [...]
On Saturday, June 5th, we were at Gershon Bachus Vintners in Temecula for the wedding of Felcia Owsian and Michael Pendleton. I love this venue. I have shot here before, and it has excellent photo opportunities, both outside and inside the tasting room reception area. On this day, the main challenge was the heat — the temperature was 97 degrees as the guests started arriving [...]
It’s baby season! On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 1st, we had the pleasure of photographing newborn portraits of 6 day-old, Ryleigh Ann DeFalco. Tiny Ryleigh was as cute as could be, and new parents Annie and Tony were beaming! With a full belly and on the verge of a deep sleep, Ryleigh was a great sport — very tolerant of us fussing with her [...]
On May 20th, we were at the Murrieta home of one of our 2008 wedding photography couples, Cheryl and Jim Stark, to photograph the first portraits of their newborn son, J.T.
Since Jim is a firefighter, in addition to the usual baby shots, we also worked his firefighters turnouts into some of the shots.
After the shoot while Rachel and I were reviewing the images, we could [...]
On Saturday, May 29th, my sons’ progressive rock band, Diminishtry, performed at the world famous Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, CA. Josh (18, guitar) and Brandon (15, drums) along with Drew Howard (15, bass) got to step on the same stage as music greats like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Van Halen, and Mötley Crüe. And, they rocked the [...]
My wife Rachel and I are fans of the old style of portraiture where everyone looks serious. Those type of portraits started out that way in the old days when you had to sit still for a long time while the camera sucked in enough light to make the exposure. Nowadays, the cast portraits for television shows such as The Sopranos or Six Feet Under [...]
On Friday, May 21, 2010, Rachel and I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Natalie Rowher and Michael Hirt at the Temecula Creek Inn. The outdoor setting was both rustic and beautiful, and elegantly decorated by Debi and Christie of The Socialites Event Planning & Design.
Just beyond the Stone House, beneath the shade of centuries old oak trees, Mike and Natalie tied the [...]
On Sunday, May 16th, we had the pleasure of photographing the engagement session of Helena Stevens and Jay Hakomaki at Glen Arbor Park (better known as “the Dog Park”) in Murrieta, California.
The woodsy location was a perfect backdrop, and the sunlight through the trees created some amazing colors!
Rachel and I had a great time working with Helena and Jay. Their pictures look fantastic, and we [...]
My wife and I are still newlyweds ourselves, having just gotten married last December 4th. Today, just days past our 6 month anniversary, I actually learned how to lace up the back of a wedding dress as I helped my wife, Rachel, get back into her gown for an outdoor bridal portrait session.
Rachel had been dying to get some final pictures in her [...]
Tosin Abasi from Animals As Leaders did his first ever clinic on Thursday, May 6th, 2010 at the Fender Center for the Performing Arts in Corona, CA. Resident guitar instructor Lee Zimmer led off the evening with some amazing classical guitar work:
Then, my sons’ progressive rock band, Diminishtry, got their turn and performed songs from their debut CD:
Finally, Tosin took the stage and performed [...]
Yesterday (Saturday, May 1st), was the Senior Prom for Murrieta Valley High School. My son Josh and his date, Rochelle, along with Rochelle’s sister, Cassie, and her date (and Josh’s buddy), Danny, all went together.
After they got their flowers in order at the house, we all went out to a nearby field for some not-so-classic pre-Prom portraits. The wind was blowing like mad. So, [...]
Besides being a wedding photographer, I am a newlywed myself, having just gotten married on December 4th of last year. My wife, Rachel, got her wedding dress from Lovee’s Bridal in Temecula. Annie DeFalco works at Lovee’s, and is expecting her first baby. So, on April 18th, Annie and her husband, Tony, came to our home/studio for her maternity portraits.
Tony has done some modeling in [...]
Way back in 2000, just before the Dot Com bubble burst, I was the Director of Customer Experience for EBZ.com, a leading e-commerce web hosting company in San Clemente. Don’t look for them now. Seven months after I started there, a Canadian competitor bought out all of our company’s assets. One of the other employees there was Kevin Busell. After nearly 10 years, I discovered [...]
On Saturday, April 4th, I photographed one of the most fun weddings that I have ever shot (and I am just over 200+ weddings and counting now). This was the wedding of Crystal Kinn and Michael Whitaker and was held at the beautiful Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook.
What made this so much fun is that, first of all, Crystal was the opposite of a [...]
Being too busy behind the camera to update the blog is both a good thing (nice to be busy) and a bad thing (you have no idea what I’ve been up to). Most recently, we’ve been keeping busy shooting a plethora of portraits and headshots. Many of the portraits have been boudoir portraits that are surprises for grooms of upcoming weddings. So we [...]
On January 17th, I was at the Hollywood House of Blues with a photo pass at the invite of Chris Letchford, guitarist for Scale The Summit, an amazing instrumental progressive rock band.
It was a night of prog rock music for sure. The headliner of the night was Between The Buried And Me (BTBAM). The band Cynic was also an opener this night. I had never [...]
On January 10th, we were at the beautiful Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego for the wedding of Michelle Stacy and Jon Huss. I realize that it may sometimes sound phony to always read a photographer’s blog that says how “beautiful” a venue was, or how “awesome” the couple was, and so on. However, this place really is beautiful. There are so many great spots [...]
On October 9th, we were back in our familiar stomping grounds of Laguna Beach for the engagement portrait session of Crystal Kinn and Michael Whitaker. They will be tying the knot on April 3rd at the beautiful Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook.
I know it sounds cliché, but this was truly an awesome couple to photograph. They were completely into each other and expressing the romance [...]
As you may have noticed, we hate the boring old Sears Portrait Studio-style stiff posed shots inside in front of a plain (or cheesy) backdrop. Rather, we prefer to get everyone outside in the fresh air having a good time and catch people (especially the kids) being themselves.
On Sunday, November 29th, we photographed family portraits for the Sisler Family. Jessica Sisler owns [...]
On November 15, 2009, we were on the beach in Dana Point to photograph the engagement portraits for Felicia Owsian & Michael Pendleton. Their wedding will be held on June 5th, 2010 at Gershon Bachus Vintners in Temecula.
Felicia and Michael started out the session being a bit camera shy (as many people do). However, since my style of shooting is primarily candid, we started out [...]
On October 3rd, I was in Alta Loma, CA to document the wedding of Jen Watts and Rick Plumhoff. I have known Jen for several years and previously did a photo shoot for her in 2007 with two of her drum sets in my studio.
Jen and Rick’s wedding was held in the backyard of Rick’s parents home in Alta Loma. Rick is a [...]
On September 5th, we were at the Admiral Kidd Catering & Conference Center in San Diego for the ocean view wedding of Evelyn Gutierrez and Michael Hayes.
After Evelyn got ready in the hotel, we zipped over to Balboa Park for the “reveal” where she sneaked up behind Mike by the koi pond and he saw her in her dress for the first time.
It was about [...]
On Friday, August 21st, we were in Burbank at the Castaway Restaurant for the wedding of Chermine Williams and Eric Smith. The ceremony concluded with a dramatic dove release, and the reception was held in the Castaway Restaurant’s Starlight Room.
Chermine (or “Moe”, as her family and friends call her) was extremely photogenic and her formal portraits reflected that. Besides their engagement session, I had previously [...]
On August 8th, we were at a private estate in the La Cresta community of Murrieta to photograph the wedding of Jamie Creech and Mark Casler. What a fun couple they are!
Besides being a ton of fun (including the bride and groom jumping on a trampoline!), Jamie’s formal bridal portraits came out magical. Just as I was about to click the shutter on a couple [...]
On February 21st, 2009, we photographed the wedding of Krystle and Shawn Balteff, and today (August 12th, 2009), we delivered their wedding album to them.
For their album, Krystle and Shawn selected our 12×8 heirloom wedding album in grey leather with a cameo image and their names and wedding date on the front cover.
Here are a few shots of Krystle and Shawn’s new [...]
Once again, I find myself so busy taking pictures that my blog has fallen behind by several weeks! I’ve photographed some great weddings over the past couple months. So, I’ll do my best to get caught up over the next week on this blog so everyone care see what I’ve been up to!
On Sunday, July 12th, we were at Occasions at Laguna Village in beautiful [...]
On June 18th, we were down in Mission Beach to photograph the engagement portraits for Jamie Creech and Mark Casler. This was the site of Mark’s proposal to Jamie. They we so much fun to be around, let alone to photograph. They seriously made my job easy on this day.
The session started at Belmont Park…
… and then we walked down to the beach…
… and [...]
On Saturday, June 13th, I photographed the wedding of Andrea Calderon and Andrew Zaragoza in Temecula. Andrea and her girls got ready in the bridal suite at the Gershon Bachus Vintners, where the reception would be held later.
Wedding photographers always love it when their couples are attractive, and I have really been lucking out lately with some stunningly-beautiful brides and their equally handsome grooms. Andrea [...]
On Saturday, June 6th, we were in La Quinta, California (near Palm Springs) at the Hideaway Country Club for the wedding of Kendra Robinson and James Peterson.
Kendra’s parents are in the aviation business — her mother founded Sierra West Airlines, a charter jet company; and her father is a pilot. So, there had to be aviation-related themes in this wedding, including the unique wedding cake [...]
On Friday, May 22nd, I was at the beautiful Pala Mesa Resort in nearby Fallbrook, CA to photograph the wedding of Summer Miller and Brad Shaw. Summer was smiling bright and never showed an ounce of nervousness the whole day.
Summer surprised her hubby-to-be, Brad, by renting him a Lamborghini GallardoLP 560-4 Spyder for the day. The price for that gift? A modest $1500. YOWZA! And, [...]
On Saturday, May 2nd, Sheila Zelaya was in our studio for her maternity portraits. We created some terrific images and amazing art, and Sheila got a well-deserved morale boost out of the session. As you will see below, Sheila proved that you can still be beautiful and sexy when you are just about ready to go into labor any day!
On Sunday, April 26th, I took part in a small bridal fair held at the Rylin Ashlee Salon in Old Town Temecula.
Besides being there to meet brides and showcase some of our latest albums, photo books, and other products, I was also tasked with getting some shots of the models that were there to showcase the makeup and hairstyling talents of the salon staff, as [...]
On April 11th, I was in Canyon Lake (California) to document the wedding of Timarie Olsen and Shane Young at the Lamb’s Fellowship church. The reception followed at the beautiful Wiens Family Cellars winery in Temecula.
Timarie had e-mailed me this shortly after they booked me to shoot their wedding:
“Just thought you might like to know… Shane attended a dinner party in Orange County last weekend [...]
On Sunday, March 22nd, I was at the Murrieta Dance Studio to take some artistic black & white portraits of some of the youngest students there.
I had previously shot similar-style portraits of the instructors there for display in large-format prints on the walls (go check ’em out!). In those shots, I used hard-edge lighting which mainly just outlined the form of the dancer with the [...]
On Sunday, March 1st, I was in Huntington Beach, CA to photograph the engagement portraits for Nikki Brunetti and Brian Nolan. Brian had proposed to Nikki at the Longboard Restaurant & Pub in Huntington Beach. So, we made sure to get a shot in front of it as well.
We had rescheduled the session from a prior date due to bad weather, and we really got [...]
Many of my local brides get their wedding day hair and makeup done at the Tanya Gray Salon near my home studio/gallery here in Murrieta. On Saturday, February 28th, Tanya’s daughter, Lauren, was in front of my camera lens for her high school senior portraits.
Lauren is graduating from Temecula Valley High School this year, and will be attending Arizona State University next year.
She wanted [...]
On Saturday, February 21st, I had an awesome time documenting the wedding of Krystle Vergara and Shawn Balteff. They were so much fun when we shot their engagement portrait session at Laguna Beach last October (HERE), that I knew the wedding day would be a blast, and it really was!
We started the day at the Temecula Creek Inn, where Krystle and her girls were [...]
On the afternoon of Tuesday, February 17th, Ginger was in our Murrieta home studio for her boudoir portrait session as an anniversary gift for her hubby, Jeremy. Ginger was a castmate of mine in the recent Temecula Valley Players stage production of “Lend Me A Tenor” — she played Maria, and I played Max. It was a blast!
Ginger is not only a great actress, but [...]
Laura Judy just had her maternity portraits taken in time. Only four days later, Victory Lee Judy was born! On March 13th, Laura, Troy, and little Victoria came back to my studio (with Victoria on the outside this time) for their first family portraits ever.
I think Victoria got a bit shy in this next shot!
I had previously photographed Laura and Troy Judy’s wedding on the island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2007.
On Tuesday, March 3rd, Laura Walker-Judy was back in front of my lens for her maternity portraits. Laura is extremely photogenic, which always makes my job a breeze when I am photographing her. Here are some of the highlights…
On February 7th, Sara Quintero Vargas was in my studio for a boudoir session as a gift for herself. She said there was no special person to give the pictures to at the moment, but she had recently reached some personal fitness goals and was inspired by the just-released Kim Kardashian calendar. So, she got her hair and makeup done in Kim Kardashian-style and wanted [...]
Big or small, your wedding day should be one of the happiest days of your life. Planning your wedding is an exciting, yet potentially stressful affair. There are many details to work out and a lot of vendors to meet with as everything comes together.
The following are some of the most common things to consider when selecting a wedding photographer. Each of these items have [...]
On Saturday, December 27th, 2008, I was back at the Grand Tradition in Fallbrook to photograph the wedding of Kelli Robinson and Jon Berger.
Speaking of traditions… as has been the tradition lately, Kelli and Jon also elected to see each other prior to the ceremony. For the “reveal”, Kelli came down the steps of the main mansion and snuck up behind Jon.
Here are the highlights [...]
On Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 we were at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course in Mission Viejo for the wedding of Kelly Swingholm and Michael Beebe. It was a perfect day for an outdoor wedding of a beautiful bride and her handsome groom.
As with the Vargas wedding earlier in the same month, this couple also elected to see each other prior to the ceremony. So, I [...]
Also on November 15th, singer Coreena Gardener was in my studio to get some creative shots for her promo package and new CD that she’s currently recording.
She liked the “300” effect that I did on the some of promo shots for the band Diminishtry. So, I did the same effect on some of her favorite shots (below):
“Just got a chance to look at [...]
On November 15th, Natalie Rivera came into the studio for her maternity portraits. She was such a natural in front of the camera, it was as if she were born a model. She had seen shots from many of my previous maternity portrait sessions that she wanted to recreate for herself, and we also created many brand new shots just for her.
Many of Natalie’s pose [...]
On November 8th, we were in Redlands, CA to document the wedding of Flor Melgoza and Ben Vargas at the Redlands Country Club.
Like more and more couples these days, Flor and Ben decided to see each other prior to the ceremony. That would allow us to get some of their formal bridal party and family portraits out of the way early so that they [...]
On Friday, October 17th, we were at the beautiful Lake Oak Meadows venue in Temecula wine country to document the wedding of Rose Bentley and Nick Trkja.
Before we arrived at the venue, Rose and all of her girls (seemingly dozens of them) got themselves prepped in a private villa at the nearby South Coast Winery Resort & Spa. At Lake Oak Meadows, Rose arrived [...]
On Thursday, October 9th, I was on the oft-visited shores of Laguna Beach again. This time it was for the engagement session of Krystle Vagara & Shawn Balteff.
The weather wasn’t the best on this day — hazy and breezy, but that didn’t stop Krystle and Shawn from enjoying their time together and it showed in the images I captured of them. [...]
On October 12th, I was up in Covina and North Hollywood to document the wedding of Tiffany Merrick and Fady Mikhael. We started the day at Tiffany’s home where finished getting ready for the day ahead.
Then, Tiffany and her girls hopped in the limo and met up with Fady at the Pasadena City Hall where they had their “reveal” and saw each other for [...]
On September 27th I documented the wedding of Sarah Khan and Joel Calzada, who both work as education counselors at the Murrieta campus of University of Phoenix, where I received my own BS degree in Business Management. When this blog last saw Sarah and Joel, we were at Disneyland for their engagement portrait session [see more].
Sarah and her girls got ready at Kelly’s Hair & [...]
I was honored to be chosen as the “official” event photographer for the 2008 Temecula Valley International Film Festival which ran from September 17th through 21st. The festival screened more than 100 films and showcased 10 music artists from all across America and around the globe. Here are a few highlights from the festival…
The stars of the feature film “The Flyboys” answer questions from the [...]
September 29th was my 45th birthday. To celebrate, I went skydiving again. This time I jumped and landed with my own parachute instead of the tandem jump I did the previous three times I went skydiving.
To celebrate not dying, I took my girlfriend, Rachel, to dinner that night and proposed. She said, “Yes!” So, now we are planning our wedding for December 4th of next year. [...]
My two sons, Josh (16) and Brandon (14) play guitar and drums respectively and are in a progressive rock band called Diminishtry with two of their buddies, Jonny Williams (15 – guitar) and Drew Howard (14 – bass).
They recently recorded a couple of their original songs to submit for entry into a local Battle of the Bands and added the songs to their [...]
We are an equal-opportunity photography studio and, as such, look forward to photographing life events for any couples in love who also love our work! June 22nd of this year was our first opportunity to photograph an engagement portrait session for an LGBT couple (HERE). And on Sunday, July 6th, we were at the University of California Riverside (UCR) Botanical Gardens for the [...]
This blog last saw Kristina Lew and Chris Weist on June 4th when we were inside Angel Stadium in Anaheim to photograph their engagement portrait session. On August 30th, we traveled all the way to Camarillo to photograph their wedding at the Spanish Hills Country Club.
Kristina and Chris decided to see each other prior to the ceremony to shorten up the time required [...]
On Sunday, August 24th, I was back at one of the most popular engagement session spots for my clients — Laguna Beach, behind the Montage Resort. This time, the happy couple was Tiffany Merrick and Fady Mikhael. The weather was great for a sunset at the beach, and Fady and Tiffany were clearly in love and enjoying themselves during the session.
And, at the moment [...]
On Monday, August 25th, I was back in Temecula Wine Country for the engagement session of Flor Melgoza and Ben Vargas at the Wilson Creek Winery. You can really see the love in in her eyes as Flor looks up at Ben in these shots.
On Wednesday, August 20th, we were in Valley Center, CA at Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort to document the wedding of David Mikowski and Tobie Romzek. Since the passing of the California law on June 17th of that legally recognized same-sex weddings, this was my first time photographing an LGBT/gay wedding.
Not only was this a long day coming, but this was a long day in [...]
On August 15th, I photographed the engagement session for Rose Bentley and Nick Trkja at Ponte Winery in Temecula. Their wedding is coming up soon — October 17th at beautiful Lake Oak Meadows in Temecula.
This was the perfect time of year for a photo shoot in wine country. The leaves were full and green on the vines, and the grapes were ripe and [...]
I have shot engagement sessions for couples at many different places during my photography career. Whenever possible, the sessions are usually shot at a place that is meaningful to the couple. For example, I’ve done sessions at the university where they met (USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Point Loma Nazarene University, etc); their favorite spots such as Angel Stadium, the San Diego Zoo, the Getty Villa [...]
I had photographed the engagement session for Jineane Moore and Kaden Kennedy way back on February 17th (view images here). On August 8th we were in Dana Point for their beach wedding below their hotel (The Ritz-Carlton).
A wedding photographer learns something new at each wedding they photograph. At this wedding, I learned how important it is to NOT wear traditional “photographer black” when photographing [...]
Their wedding is not until June 13th of next year, but Andrea Calderon and Andrew Zaragoza are definitely ones to plan ahead. They booked me for their wedding over a year in advance!
For their engagement session on July 20th, we went to beautiful Balboa Park in San Diego. This day was the most crowded I had ever seen Balboa Park. So, I had [...]
On July 24th, Julia Miller and her hubby visited my studio for her maternity portraits. As with many of my maternity portrait clients, Julia came prepared with several printouts with sample images of different pose ideas that she wanted replicated for herself.
Usually, with these type of sessions, the first 15 minutes or so is just “warm up” time where we take the more “conservative” shots [...]
On June 22nd, I was in Claremont to photograph an engagement session for Nicole Benitez and Candice Smith. This was my first ever Couples Portraits session with a female couple, and we had a blast! I just told them to be themselves, and that’s all it took. They were laughing and making wise-cracks the whole time.
Here are some highlights from our fun afternoon together:
To view [...]
On Wednesday, June 4th I was back at Angel Stadium for the second time in six weeks to shoot the engagement session for Kristina Lew and Chris Weist. I’ll be shooting their wedding on August 30th. They were such a fun couple to shoot. They are huge Angel’s fans and really got a kick out of being in the stadium alone. They even brought their [...]
When I last photographed her for her engagement session, Jackie Pedroza was a TV sportscaster for KZSW in Temecula. By her wedding to Josh West on Saturday, May 24th, she had moved up the ladder and is now a producer at KCBS-TV in Palm Springs.
Jackie and Josh’s wedding was held at the Grand Tradition in Fallbrook, CA. The venue was as beautiful as the [...]
On February 17th, we were back at Laguna Beach to photograph the engagement portrait session for Jineane Moore and Kaden Kennedy.
I first met this bride to be on the same beach on June 17th, 2007 when I was there photographing the engagement session for Diana and Alfredo Torres. Jineane’s fiance, Kaden, was off running around on the beach somewhere. His parents were relaxing on [...]
Bridal Boudoir portraits are a popular new gift idea for brides to surprise their new spouse with on the wedding day. Unlike traditional boudoir portraits, which are a great gift for many different occasions — Valentine’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc — bridal boudoir portraits are unique in that they are specifically wedding-themed.
These portraits are either taken in advance of the wedding day (in [...]
